Gediz University

Gediz University was a foundation university established on the Seyrek campus in the Menemen district of İzmir. It was founded in 2008 by the Sipahi Education, Health and Sports Foundation and began education in the 2009-2010 academic year.

As of 2016, the year it was closed, the university served approximately 7,975 undergraduate and graduate students from 80 different countries with 287 academic staff members. Gediz University, which had five faculties, two institutes, a Vocational School and a Vocational School of Justice, provided education in the fields of Law, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Engineering and Architecture, Arts and Sciences, and Health Sciences.

Offering education in English in a significant number of its departments, the university stood out with its modern laboratories, international student profile and university-industry cooperation projects. In 2015, it ranked 41st overall in Türkiye and 15th among foundation universities in the TÜBİTAK Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index.
