Melikşah University was the first foundation (private) university in Kayseri and the second university overall in the province. Founded in 2008 by the Burç Eğitim Kültür ve Sağlık Vakfı (Burç Education Culture and Health Foundation), the university was named after Malik-Shah I, a sultan of the Seljuk Turks. The campus covered 32,025 m² and at its peak served approximately 4,500 students with 175 academic staff across faculties including Science-Literature, Law, Economics, Engineering and Architecture, and Health Sciences.
